I AM GOING TO BE AN AUNT!!!!!

Yes, I am shouting - I am going to be an Aunt and I could not be more excited about it!   By the time this post is up, Erika will be almost 20 weeks pregnant with TWIN GIRLS!!!   I have always dreamed about watching all of the cousins (Erika's, Michael's and my kids) play together and now, it is finally going to happen!   I am so happy for Erika and Richie and am so proud of them.

As for these little princesses that will soon join our crazy bunch, I know that they are going to be best friends, just like me and my sister!!  I love them so much already xoxo
Memorial Day weekend, Erika and Richie came up and we had a party to celebrate them.  Leading up to that day, we had pretty stinky weather but it cleared up and we had a great time. Aunt Carrie and her gang came, Marteze and her gang came, and of course, all of our gang.
It was pretty funny because Dylan kept screaming at Erika's bellybutton trying to talk to the babies.   From the beginning, Dylan said that he wanted the babies to be "a sister and a kid" and stated that he was only going to play with the sister - i think he really wanted a girl because he needs someone to be Leia in Star Wars/Marion in Indiana Jones.   He was VERY excited when we found out there was two girls!!
I didn't get pictures of them, but Jasmine made blue and pink cookies shaped like onesies that Erika used for her gender reveal to her friends, but I did get a picture of the adorable cupcakes she made
Our family has so much to be thankful for and this was a great first celebration of probably the most anticipated children of all time!! I think we are all counting the days until October for their arrival.
I wish there were more opportunities for all of us together (and that Erika and Richie lived closer) because when we do, we always have a great time.   What is most exciting about this last picture?   The next time we are all together, there will be two more of us in the picture!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!

Lego Star Wars

On May 23rd, I had just gotten off the subway in Times Square and the first thing I saw was this:

A 4 foot tall Yoda made entirely out of legos!! Oh, how I wished the kids were there to see it - legos and Star Wars are very popular in our house now and I knew the boys would just LOVE it.   I quickly found out that there was going to be a "big reveal" at 11 am but the actual event would run all weekend.   At 11, I ran downstairs with a girl I work to see what all the fuss was about:
Ends up that to promote a new Yoda show on the Cartoon Network, Lego created the biggest Lego model ever: a 23 ton X-Wing Fighter that I heard has more than 5 million bricks!

I really didn't want the boys to miss seeing the ship, especially since it was only on display for 3 days.  Erika and Richie were in town for Memorial Day weekend and they agreed to bring the boys up to Times Square after school the next day, which was perfect since I had a short day.   Unfortunately it was raining, but that didn't take away from the excitement - when the boys got there, they couldn't believe their eyes.

To gain entry to the event, you collected a brick at the gate and needed to wait until your color was called - luckily, because the weather wasn't great, we got our beige brick and were able to go right in.   While I waited on line for the boys to sit in the x-wing (how exciting), Erika and Richie walked around with the boys.  There were a bunch of lego models, and there was even a make-and-take station where the kids were able to make mini x-wings to take home.

I have to say, I was really impressed by the models and I think that everyone else was too.  After about 30 minutes, we had seen everything, had taken pictures with all of the models and even got a goodie bag with comics and posters.   It was definitely a fun way to kick off the weekend!

Instagram In The City- January and February 2013

I can't seem to keep up with the blog and really wish I had more time to do so. Since I don't, I have decided to add a new category on this blog: Instagram in the City! Erika got my hooked on the app Instagram and I love it! (and of course use it way more than Erika - at least until those babies come! I think she may catch up then)  Instagram is basically a quick photo editing/sharing app and since I don't always photo stream those pictures, I thought this would be a quick way to do a monthly catch-up of random stuff.  Here are some of our highlights from January and February.
